The ability to be confident and qualified is often overlooked. This is a huge mistake not only for your safety, how can you call for help when you need it! But also for the more fun things you will want to do like booking a visitor berth in a marina or talking to your flotilla mates to organise arrivals and social events. Here at Corfu Powerboating we have combined these two courses which can be booked at a discount. The VHF course can be taken in our classroom, usually follwingon from the practical course or using the online simulation at a time to suit you
Terms and Conditions
Payments
A booking will only be confirmed once full payment has been made.
Cancellation by the customer
Full payment will be refunded if written confirmation of cancellation is received more than 60 days of the date of commencement of the course. Partial refund of 50% payment will be made if cancellation is made within 60 and 30 days of the start of the course date.
If cancellation is made with less than 30 days of the course start date then no refund will be made, Corfu Powerboating will endeavour to re sell the place.
Cancellation by Corfu Powerboating
An alternative course date will be made available. In the event that this is unacceptable any course fees you have paid, including your deposit, will be refunded in full. No liability shall be attached to Corfu Powerboating beyond refunding the course fee paid for the cancelled course or unused portion if the course has been started. No payments shall be made for incidental costs such as, but not limited to, accommodation, travel etc.
Changes to bookings
Once a booking has been made, unfortunately changes to the booking cannot be accepted.
What’s included in your course?
Prices for power boating courses include all instruction, fuel. mooring costs
Lifejackets are provided for every student on any practical course.
Age Limits
Corfu Powerboating cannot normally accept students under the age of 16 unless accompanied by a parent or appointed guardian. Students between 16-18 years of age will require written authority of a parent or appointed guardian if unaccompanied. There is no upper age limit, but students should satisfy themselves that they are fit to complete the course.
Insurance
Our vessel is fully insured against accidents and third party liability, but responsibility is not accepted for personal accidents, damage or loss caused by your negligence. Unnecessary damage or loss caused by your carelessness will be paid for by you at replacement cost - fair wear and tear accounted for. You are strongly advised to arrange personal insurance cover for your own cancellation, bodily injury and personal liability.
Student’s responsibilities
Students have the following responsibilities -

To ensure that they do not take any action that jeopardizes the safety of fellow clients, skippers or boats.

To observe the standards of personal conduct which will not be considered offensive by fellow crewmembers or neighbouring vessels

In the event of unacceptable behaviour, Corfu Powerboating reserves the right to terminate the offending client’s course. Under such circumstances fees and any costs incurred will not be refundable.

To inform the school of any known medical condition relevant to the students fitness to complete the course.
RYA Certificates
Corfu Powerboating has high standards of instruction and applies RYA guidelines on the issue of certificates. Certificates will only be issued if, in the opinion of the instructor, the student has reached the necessary standard.
Health
Powerboating is an activity sport, and it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they are fit and healthy to participate. Please check with your doctor if you have any doubts about your eligibility to partake in such an activity. If, for whatever reason, the skipper has to put a student ashore, or administer medical aid, Corfu Powerboating or its representatives accept no responsibility or liability.
Late Arrivals
Corfu Powerboating will make every effort to revise schedules to accommodate late arrivals, however if such delays affect other student's courses, the skipper may commence the course without the delayed student. In such cases no refund will be given.
Own Boat Tuition
Own Boat tuition will take place at our base, unless otherwise agreed with the client at time of booking. If training takes place at the vessels home base then travel expenses and over night accommodation if required will be charged for. This will be agreed prior to training taking place.
In the case of own boat tuition, the below conditions apply, and in addition owners will be required to:

Ensure that the vessel is equipped appropriately and is maintained in a proper and seaman like condition for the intended operating area.

Ensure that the vessel is fully insured for the duration of the Instruction period.

Retain responsibility for the safety of the vessel throughout.

The instructor will not take on the responsibility for the safety of the yacht, he will however advise the owner on all safety matters.
Force Majeure
In the event of non-performance, partial performance or delay resulting wholly or partly from any force majeure or occurrence or any circumstance whatever beyond the control of Corfu Powerboating including (without limitation) the acts or omissions of third parties, labour difficulties, weather conditions, technical breakdown or accident to any vessel or any part of it, natural disaster or any act of authority, Corfu Powerboating shall use reasonable endeavours to continue to perform the booking but otherwise shall have no liability to the client. The client shall be liable to pay such part of the price as applicable to that part of the booking which has been performed (if any), and all expenses connected with it, and anything in excess of this figure already paid by the client shall be refunded. The maximum liability shall be restricted to the cost of the course only. Corfu Powerboating determination of the applicable part of the price and connected expenses shall be considered conclusive in the absence of manifest error.
Complaints
If for any reason a student has cause for dissatisfaction, then he/she shall draw the attention of the instructor to the cause at the earliest opportunity. If the instructor is unable to resolve the issue, then the Principal must be contacted as soon as possible for the company complaints procedure to be activated.
GDPR
Corfu Powerboating collects personal data during its delivery of services - the data is shared with the RYA over a secure web portal and is used to register your qualification or verify and replace certificates in the future if required. (Read More in our GDPR page)
